Austin American-Statesman Names Dynamo Jrs Players, Parker Fyfe, Player of the Year, and Curran Kelly, Defender of the Year in 2016 All-Area Soccer Honors
Congrats to DJCT C-98B players Parker Fyfe and Curran Kelly on being named the Austin American-Statesman Player of the Year and Defender of the Year, respectively, in the 2016 All-Area soccer honors for their performances during the 2015-2016 high school soccer season.
• PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Parker Fyfe, sr., Lake Travis
A senior who has signed with St. Edward’s, Fyfe totaled 28 goals and 25 assists this season to help the Cavaliers reach the Class 6A championship match. During seven postseason matches, he recorded three goals and seven assists.
“He is an extremely diverse player who works extremely well with the players surrounding him,” said Lake Travis coach David Bammel. “He seems to know how to combine his abilities with those players and use what they are good at to the advantage of the entire team.”
• DEFENDER OF THE YEAR: Curran Kelly, sr., Vandegrift
Kelly led a Vandegrift defense that finished the 2016 season with a goals-against average of 0.96. His play helped the Vipers reach the Class 5A regional semifinals after they won the District 25-5A title.
A second-team all-state selection in Class 5A by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO), Kelly has signed with UT-Dallas.
