Texas State & Concordia University coaches join DJCT staff for Spring 2014 season

DJCT Add Two Coaches for Spring 2014
DJCT have added Link Scroggins and Robert Courtney to the coaching staff for the Spring 2014 season.  Link, who is currently an assistant coach at Texas State for the women's D1 team, and Robert, who is an assistant coach at Concordia University for the D3 men's team, bring experience at both the club and collegiate levels to the DJCT staff.  Robert will work with teams in Riverplace and the South locations (Dripping Springs), while Link will work with teams in the South location.  We are excited to have both Link and Robert join the DJCT staff.
Link Scroggins Bio:
Link Scoggins enters his first season with DJCT and is in his second season at Texas State. He comes to San Marcos after coaching on a variety of staffs since graduating from Hardin Simmons in 2005. Link worked primarily with the field players, helping the Bobcats to have five of them named to the All-Southland Conference team. Both Felicia Leask and Serena Hines had breakout seasons in his first year scoring a career-high eight goals apiece. Scoggins, who lettered in soccer at the University of Dallas for three seasons from 2002-04, transferred to Hardin-Simmons for his remaining year of eligibility in 2005 and stayed on board as an assistant coach in 2006. The Cowboys won the American Southwest Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament each season. A four-year starter as a collegian, Link has been the head coach for the Triumph FC Soccer Club ‘96 and ‘99 girls’ programs since August 2008 and has also served on the sidelines in a variety of other capacities over the past several years. His other stints include being the assistant coach with the Abilene Soccer Club ‘92 girls in 2007 as well as the head coach for the eighth grade and freshman boys’ teams at Cistercian Preparatory School from 2009-11. Scoggins, a native of Denton, Texas, earned his bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, sports fitness and leisure studies from Hardin-Simmons in 2007. He holds a USSF "D" coaching license and currently resides in Austin.
Robert (Bobby) Courtney Bio:
Robert Courtney enters his first season at DJCT and is an assistant coach for the Concordia University Texas men's soccer team.
Courtney, who is a product of the Tornados' program, will assist head coach Corey Miller in all aspects of the squad, including recruiting.
The Santa Fe, Texas, native started his collegiate playing career as a defender and forward at Houston Baptist. Courtney then transferred to Concordia Texas, where he competed at defender before his career was cut short due to injury.  Courtney was a member of the 2009 Tornados defense, which posted a program-record four shutouts. Courtney, who received a bachelor of science degree in biology and environmental science from Concordia Texas in 2013, resides in Austin.
